River Ancholme Information
The River Ancholme Navigation runs from the Humber Estuary at Ferriby Sluice, near South Ferriby, to its terminus at Bishopbridge 19 miles (30.4 km) upstream.
There are two locks (Ferriby Sluice and Harlam Hill Lock) and an additional navigable loop in the river to the small town of Brigg.
The maximum size boat that can navigate throughout the Navigation is:
length: 69′ 0″ (21.03 metres) – Harlam Hil Lock
beam: 16′ 0″ (4.88 metres) – Harlam Hill Lock
height: 11′ 0″ (3.29 metres)
draught: 4′ 11″ (1.5 metres)
Ferriby Sluice lock can accommodate boats 80′ (24.37 metres) x 19′ (5.78 metres).
This tidal lock is operated by a lockkeeper (Tel: 01652 635219 – VHF Channel 74).

Current Mooring Fees May 2017
As Brigg Marina is in an early stage of development, we recognise there may be some minor disruption to our clients.
Our mooring fees are therefore reflective of the current condition of the Marina Basin and its limited services.
The fees will run year to year, based on approved application forms and conditions of use. (MINIMUM 8.00 metres)

All vessels are LENGTH OVER ALL MEASURED (LOAM) to include pulpits,
anchors, bowsprits, bathing platforms, davits, rudders and outdrives.
Minimum chargeable length 8.00 METRES
All mooring fees are payable in advance and calculated on a calendar month and all mooring agreements shall commence on the first day of a calendar month.
For short-term periods of less than one month, mooring fees will be calculated on a monthly basis.
No Refunds or Credit Notes will be given for Mooring Fees paid in advance on early termination of mooring contract.
Apply for a mooring
The locations in the Marina available for specific moorings will be agreed on an application-by-application basis, once agreed the mooring would be available under the terms of the Berthing Licence and its specific terms.
Please include an original insurance certificate, detailing third party liability to a minimum sum of £3,000,000 with this application, together with a recent photograph of your vessel (taken within the last calendar month).
Applying for an annual berth licence.
Annual licencing starts on 1st May each year. Conditions of a licence application Include:
- You must provide evidence that your vessel meets the Boat Safety Scheme standards.
- You must provide a recent photograph of your vessel (taken within one month)
- The craft must be insured against third party risks and passenger liability to a minimum of £3,000,000 for any one claim.
